All-Star Weekend:

(Probably Wrong) Prediction Updates and Additional Thoughts

Hello, dear reader! I hope this article finds you well.

This past weekend was JAM PACKED! The NBA All-Star Weekend happened - and we’ll get to my (Probably Wrong) Predictions in a minute. The Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Show also happened - along with the Homecoming Concert - featuring Nirvana, Lonely Island, and Cher.

The show was star studded. The  opening monologue was done by one of the ultimate comedy icons - Steve Martin, and some of the show's greatest hosts, from Alec Baldwin to Scarlett Johanssen, also made appearances.  No matter what era of SNL you loved, there was something for you. Lorraine Newman, Amy Poehler, David Spade, Keenan Thompson, Eddie Murphy, Will Forte, and many more all made appearances and Weekend Update had Seth Myers and Bill Murray reprise their roles behind the desk. Musical performances from Paul Simon to Miley Cyrus dotted the night, as well as a beautiful musical tribute from SNL Alum Adam Sandler.

It was a fun, comedy and nostalgia filled, Sunday evening, and I am looking forward to 50 more years of Saturday Night Live.

Now, onto my

(Probably Wrong) Predictions from the NBA All-Star Weekend:

Rising Stars Challenge:

My (Probably Wrong) Prediction: Team C Wins

Result - CORRECT!

Team C came through for me in the Rising Stars tournament - Dalton Knecht and Keyonte George lit the scoreboard up for Team C, while Stephon Castle raised the MVP trophy at the end of the tourney. Team C dominated their first match against team T. In the Championship game, the team from the G-League put up a good fight for the first half, matching team C point for point, until Team C got serious and put the game away. Team C will represent the rising Stars at the NBA All-Star Tournament and will represent one more CORRECT! Tick in my overall (Probably Wrong) Prediction column.

Dunk Contest:

My (Probably Wrong) Prediction: Stephon Castle Wins

Result - WRONG

Matt McClung has reinvigorated the Dunk Contest. His first dunk - jumping over the top of a car - was insane. Oh, and it only got better. Despite a great showing by Stephon Castle, Matt McClung showed the world why he’s the reigning champ. The 6’2’’ Guard from the G-League showed off his athleticism and creativity. Jumping over guys a clear foot taller than him, dunking two balls at once, and tapping the hoop before his dunks - he was explosive, inventive, and he got the crowd into it. Multiple stars have expressed their excitement and interest in competing next year. He is exactly the kind of player the dunk contest needs, and I am happily WRONG in my Prediction.

Three Point Contest:

My (Probably Wrong) Prediction: Damien Lillard Wins

Result - WRONG

What a 3 point contest! My watch must have been busted, because Dame Time never came. Lillard ended in fifth place in the opening round as Buddy Hield tied Steph Curry’s record of 31 points. Buddy couldn’t get anywhere close to that in the championship round, however, ending with 23 points in the round - second to Tyler Herro, who took home the win with 24 points. Herro lived up to his name, becoming the hero of the night, making me WRONG.

All-Star Tournament:

My (Probably Wrong) Prediction: Team Chuck Wins

Result - WRONG

Dear reader, I do not know why I ever pick against Steph Curry in the All-Star game. He was built for the lights and showy nature of All-Star weekend. Hitting shots from ridiculous ranges, Steph Curry can score in bunches and he’s flashy and demonstrative while doing it - it makes me mad when he’s sending the Rockets home in the playoffs - but it’s perfect for the All-Star Game. Curry won the Tournament MVP, sending Team Chuck’s team home and giving me my third WRONG predictionWr of the weekend.

Let’s look at the updated (Probably Wrong) Prediction scoreboard:

OVERALL (PROBABLY WRONG) PREDICTION COUNT - 5 CORRECT! - 9 WRONG

I really hope, dear reader, that you have not made any bets based on my predictions. That is a one way ticket to losing your shirt.

Walker’s Weekly Wrecommendations

Each week I’m gonna review and recommend random things - TV shows, music, or a restaurant. IDK. Whatever I feel like. This is my blog.

This week's Triple W is Cixin Liu’s book “The Three-Body Problem”. The first book in Liu’s “Remembrance of Earth’s Past” trilogy, Three-Body Problem examines the question that humanity has pondered for years - is there life out in the stars - and, if there is, should we contact that life? A mysterious thriller that starts in the midst of China’s cultural revolution, Three-Body problem will leave you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.

NEXT WEEK: Walker’s Wranting’s presents “TBA” I’m sure I’ll find something to Wrant about.
