Madness: Sweet and Elite

Madness:

Sweet and Elite

Dear reader, I apologize for this shorter blog post. To be honest, this tournament has been a bit boring - no Cinderellas or major upsets. No, for the first time since 2008, and for only the second time ever, the Final Four will be played by the tournament’s four number one seeded teams. Thanks Texas Tech, for ruining my Final Four.  All is going according to plan for the selection committee - and I’m sure they’re all gonna be so smug about it. “See? We DO know what we’re talking about!”

Yes, the Final Four is set - University of Houston will take on the Duke Blue Devils, while Florida and Auburn will battle in a SEC showdown. While we don’t get the excitement of a David vs. Goliath game, we will get the excitement of amazing basketball played by the four best teams in the country, and high-level basketball is a joy to watch. These games will definitely be Sweet and Elite.

Duke and Houston will be a defensive slugfest - both teams ranking in the top five in defensive rating. Duke has the offensive edge - ranking number one overall in offensive rating and their projected number one overall NBA draft pick, Cooper Flagg, is a monster on both sides of the court. Houston comes in with Joseph Tugler, who is a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, roaming the paint. Both teams will have a heckuva time with each other, and I predict a low scoring slugfest. These two teams are the definition of Elite - especially defensively.

Florida and Auburn have already played once this year, with both teams being in the SEC, with Florida beating Auburn in Alabama 90-81. The two teams will face each other in San Antonio, separated by two points per game in the tournament, Florida scoring 85 and Auburn scoring 83 points per game. It will be a tight game - each team will be fighting to be the representative for the SEC - which has quickly become one of the nation’s toughest basketball conferences. I guess football supremacy wasn’t enough for them. This game will embody the things that make the tournament one of the Sweetest around - fast paced, high scoring and intense.

So, while there wasn’t much chaos this year(which is partly my fault - I should know that the Sports Gods love making me look stupid), the Final Four will be a must watch event - the country’s best collegiate basketball teams going at it for the title of Champion. There’s just one thing left for me to say:

Go, Coogs, Go!

Walker’s Weekly Wrecommendations

Each week I’m gonna review and recommend random things - TV shows, music, or a restaurant. IDK. Whatever I feel like. This is my blog.

This week's Triple W is Netflix’s live weekly comedy talk show “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney”. Airing on Wednesday’s at 9PM CT - John Mulaney and his sidekick Richard Kind take on the most pressing issues facing our nation - such as funeral planning, cruises, and the ever looming headache of lending people money. Larger than life guests like Micheal Keaton, Ben Stiller, and Henry Winkler come on the show to help John take real life phone calls from viewers in real time - making this show a hilariously unpredictable ride.

NEXT WEEK: Walker’s Wranting’s presents “Madness: The King is Crowned
