The Aftermath
Well, dear reader. Here I sit, in darkness, both metaphorically and in reality.
As you might know, my Rockets lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the…
Shudder
Golden. State. Warriors.
There’s not much to say. I am proud of the Rockets for making such a leap this year. From 3 straight years of terrible basketball, losing records, and Stephen Silas, to a 41-41 season under Ime Udoka and finally making a huge jump from just outside the playoffs to second seed in the Western Conference. There may be a bad taste in our mouths, Rockets fans, but this season wasn’t a failure. Far from it. We’re ahead of schedule.
Next week I’m going to write about what the Rockets need to do to take the next step towards a Championship, so this Wrant will be a very short one. I want to make sure I take my time to collect my thoughts. I’ve had a rough few weeks - The Coogs lose in the NCAA Tourney Finals and the Rockets get bounced in the first round. This Houstonian is getting a bit weary of basketball.
Not too weary, however. Of course I’m still going to watch the NBA Playoffs. I still have faith in my midseason pick of Oklahoma City winning the Championship, although Denver has shown that they are still dangerous. Russell Westbrook had a round one resurgence, let’s see if he can take that energy back to his old team in the OKC. Golden State just had a brutal series against Houston, while Minnesota had a week of rest. I hope Anthony Edwards runs all over the Bay area boys. The East has already had some fireworks - the Boston Celtics were beaten in overtime by the New York Knicks, while Cleveland lost home court advantage to the Indiana Pacers.
Yes, while my Rockets may have been grounded, the NBA Playoffs still march on. Don’t worry, I’ll be watching - providing you with my decidedly non expert opinions.
Walker’s Weekly Wrecommendations
Each week I’m gonna review and recommend random things - TV shows, music, or a restaurant. IDK. Whatever I feel like. This is my blog.
This week's Triple W is HBO’s “The Rehearsal”. Created by Nathan Fielder, who got really good grades in one of Canada’s top business schools, The Rehearsal is actually pretty hard to explain. The first season saw Nathan help people gear up for hard conversions by rehearsing them - in very unconventional ways. From perfect recreations of trivia bars in a warehouse to hiring child actors to help a woman rehearse for motherhood, each episode gets weirder and weirder. This season, Nathan tackles the question of America’s problem with airline crashes, and the mental health of the pilots involved. The Rehearsal may not make you laugh out loud, but you will be thoroughly entertained throughout.
