10. White Men Can’t Jump (1992)

Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes are hustlers living off of playing the game they love. White Men Can’t Jump was street ball before there ever was street ball.

9. Space Jam (1996)

Believe it or not, this is the highest grossing basketball movie of all-time. How could it not be though as the movie paired NBA legend Michael Jordan with Bugs Bunny.

8. Above the Rim (1994)

A promising young New York City basketball prospect is tied to a local drug dealer who was the school’s star some years ago. It’s the classic tale of making it out of the ‘hood.

7. Blue Chips (1994)

As the head coach at national power Western University, Nick Nolte as Coach Pete Bell faces the reality of recruiting. The movie features Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway and was one of the reasons the Orlando Magic drafted Hardaway.

6. He Got Game (1998)

Legendary director Spike Lee tells the fictional story of the nation’s No. 1 high school basketball recruit (played by NBA star Ray Allen). The main character tries to decide where to play college basketball without any real guidance.

5. Fast Break (1979)

One of the most overlooked basketball movies, Gabe Kaplan of Welcome Back Kotter fame plays a college coach hired to do one thing – win a game against the school’s biggest rival. Comedy ensues.

4. Love & Basketball (2000)

As the title proclaims, it’s about love and basketball. Two athletes, played by Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan, try and make it together through romance and playing basketball at USC.

3. Glory Road (2006)

The first all-black starting lineup in college basketball was kind of a big deal in 1966. In fact, it became a bigger deal when Texas Western went on to win a national championship that year. Glory Road recaps the incredible journey.

2. Coach Carter (2005)

Ken Carter returns to his high school in an attempt to resurrect the basketball program. What ensues is a great story about winning not only in basketball, but in life too.

1. Hoosiers (1986)

It is one of the best sports movies of all-time. A high school basketball team from a small town in Indiana goes on to win a state championship against all odds. Gene Hackman stars as the team’s coach and leads them through battles both on and off the court.
